A Short Update on My Case

Folks, I had my first official hearing for my case and they(management) want to settle.  My lawyer has advised to give them an estimate.  Apparently, they don’t want a precedent set if a decision is rendered should I opt to go the whole nine yards.  After hearing a synopsis of my case, they realized they don’t have a foot to stand on.  I was quite surprised when they decided to deal.  Anyhow, wish me well!

    Hey, girl! Any recent news?

They have adjourned my case as the management’s lawyer hurt his back. Right now they are trying to back peddle on certain things. However, I have more ammunition as they have again done the same thing for which I originally dinged them for. Fun and games with these people!

Herneith, where can I learn what your court case is about?

  5. #6 by Herneith on October 11, 2014 - 11:28

At this point you can’t. I am in Canada so we have different processes. Court could be one of them, but unless you have unlimited resources to go against a corporation or government, it is not a viable option for most here. Currently, my case is before a grievance settlement board. I originally filed a human rights complaint but it has been deferred pending the outcome of the grievance process(you can’t utilize several processes at once here). I am currently awaiting a settlement hearing. I can’t really say much at this time, but the case stems from a series of violent and racist acts perpetrated against myself and other black workers, and the white supremacist system currently in place which is designed to propagandize themselves as ‘progressing’ and basically making them ‘feel good’ about themselves whilst actually doing fuck all. A neat trick but par for the course. There is nothing new under the sun, same shit, different toilet bowl is all it is.

Anything new of note to report on this? I’ve been wondering how things are progressing – but since it’s courts, things are most likely in “hurry up and wait” mode!

I have been handed a decision in a lower body. I am now taking it to a higher body as it was deferred to the lower body when I initially lodged it. The decision is a blaring example of racist stereotyping. That’s it for now.
